This weeks topic presented by Ramona Rüttimann and Mai Watanabe was all about data and the different methods on how to visually abstract it.

Data Visualizations has been used since forever and there have developed different kinds of it over centuries. For example, a presentation is used to communicate and visualize certain topics and information to solve questions and to provide clarity. But at the same time it could simply be an infographic including certain information and data.

Two types of data

When we talk about data we can differentiate between two types, which are qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data is more about «why» the data happens to be like this, while quantitative data focuses on «what» is happening and is also more likely automatically collected.
