In this lesson we learned more about evaluation itself, especially in context with design, presented by Nicola Delany and Tim Fuchs.

To evaluate a design we usually have these two settings:

• laboratory settings to evaluate specific functions of a product
• natural settings to evaluate emotions and experiences of the user

On which following procedures usually are used:

• summative evaluations - to test against standards ie. ISO, or DIN
• formative evaluations - to test users needs, from the early stages of the development until tweaking a final prototype.

Three different approaches can be used in the evaluation of a design:

• Usability Testing
• Field studies
• Analytical Evaluation
